A new organization was born in 2016 when Tilth Producers, Cascade Harvest Coalition and Seattle Tilth merged -- we are now Tilth Alliance! We realized that the most effective way to support growers and producers is by uniting farmers, eaters, gardeners, cooks and environmental advocates to champion a sustainable food culture. 2017 Annual Meeting

The annual Tilth conference in November featured both a listening session and a community roundtable, from which we received a wealth of feedback and ideas for future programming and ways to grow. The new FDA Produce Safety Rule under the Food Safety Modernization Act is the first federal food safety law that sets specific standards for fruit and vegetable growers. What does that mean for small farms? Join Tilth Alliance for a One Day University, in collaboration with the WSDA FARMS team, for an in-depth look at the evolving on-farm safety regulations and certifications.

WSDA staff will review small farm exemptions, compliance deadlines, plans for education and enforcement, and how these requirements compare to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. Learn more and view the full agenda.

HumanLinks Foundation & Tilth Partner for Farmer Grants

In partnership with HumanLinks Foundation, Tilth is accepting applications to grant funds to farmers seeking financial assistance to sustain their farm operations and make necessary improvements for success. The goal of this grant program is to support organic and sustainable farmers practicing responsible and progressive methods such as sustainable soil management, crop diversification, pollination enhancing practices, climate change mitigation and environmentally-safe waste management practices.

Farmer and Advocate of the Year Awards

Jerry Pipitone - farmer of the year 2016

Each year the Tilth's Board of Directors and membership recognize individuals that have gone above and beyond to promote the mission of the organization and champion our core values. This year's Farmer of the Year award is presented to Jerry Pipitone of Pipitone Farms for his pioneering work on farmers markets and generous mentorship. This year's Advocate of the Year award is presented to Nathaniel Lewis of the Organic Trade Association and Oyster Bay Farm for his policy analysis and engagement of organic producers across the state.
