General Description

Seeking a couple interested in immersing themselves in the business of blueberry farming We are a Certified Organic You-Pick and We-Pick Farm that farm crafts jam, dried and  pickled blueberries with more products in R&D. We are also the hub managers and location of the Puget Sound Food Hub.

Established in 1947, Bow Hill Blueberries is the oldest family-run blueberry farm in the Skagit Valley. Its 4500 high bush blueberries are a combination of Blue Crop, Jersey, Rubel and Stanley.

Over the past 3 years have reinvigorated the farm into the community gathering place  that it once was. Our passions are quality, taste, growing organic, the customer experience and sharing what we are grateful to have inherited from the original family.

Bow/Edison is a quaint village with an active music, art, food and farming scene. Wednesday trivia night at the Longhorn Saloon was was a big hit with our last interns.

Educational Opportunities: All facets of organic blueberry farming including: tilth rejuvenation after long-term conventional practices; Organic weed and pest management; conversion from overhead to innovative under canopy irrigation; picking labor management; marketing and social media; packaging and distribution; small farm finance; You-pick & We-pick retail farm store; farmers markets; value added production and Agritourism event management including a kid’s day camp with cooking classes.

In addition to the blueberry farm there is:

  • Organic garden plot for personal consumption
  • Organic pasture management intensive grazing practices
  • Raising and processing chicken and meat goats
  • food hub management

Skills Desired: We expect Interns to have integrity, work hard, communicate well, have flexibility and curiosity, be detail oriented, have a sense of humor and be good with people. Extra points if you have business, carpentry or artistic skills. Extra extra points if you cook well.

Hours: Interns are an integral part of our business and will be treated team members. 40 hour work weeks required until harvest which may require longer hours. Keep in mind that farming is not a 9-5 job and you must be flexible to the whims of nature.
