Plum Forest Farm

Plum Forest Farm grows great USDA certified organic food for our community on Vashon Island. We do this by focusing on growing habitat (for our family, for wild and domestic plants and animals, and soil micro-organisms). Our varied seasonal vegetables and fruits have won us a reputation for delicious quality food.
Our growing methods are based on integrating crops with livestock. In addition to providing eggs, meat, mowing, bug-eating, and other services, our Scottish Highland cattle and diverse flock of laying hens and pastured broilers provide the manure that we compost with plant materials to create fertile soil. This soil lives on our flat to gently southward sloping crop field and produces vibrant produce. The farm is named for the enchanted old growth plum forest that we discovered under a wall of blackberries when we came here in 1999.
We sell our produce year-round through our farm stand and at the Vashon Farmer’s Market. Our eggs are available daily at the farm stand.
Our interns learn to master almost all aspects of growing and marketing our diverse plants and animals and caring for this land. We work full time, and particpate in Vashon’s CRAFT program, which allows interns from many of Vashon’s farms to learn together from each of the participating farms.
We also have opportunities for Work-share volunteers. Come to the farm one day per week for 20 weeks to help with growing and harvesting and receive a CSA share.
