The Tilth Producers Apprenticeship Placement Service is a way for Tilth Producers members list your offerings to host apprentices and interns on your farms. You can use this website feature to add, update and delete your own placement listing.
In the past, we posted placement listings on the website but we had a cumbersome method using paper applications you’d send us via snail mail. Now it’s real-time and you’re in control.
The service is available to Tilth Producers growers who are current members. You can only post one listing per farm, but you may indicate multiple positions.
Here’s How:
1) Go to tilthproducers.org and click on “Tilth Placement Service” on the navigation bar on the left.
2) You’ll need to know your unique membership number to activate your ability to use the service. If you don’t know it, we’ll be adding your membership number to the address label starting with the Fall, 2006 Tilth Producers Quarterly Journal. Nancy Allen, Tilth Producer’s Administrative Assistant, can also tell you what your membership is via email () or by phone 206-442-7620. You must be current with your membership dues to have a usable number, so…. you know what to do. Your membership number will stay the same even if, heaven forbid, you have a temporary lapse in staying current with your dues.
3) Next, you’ll need to choose your own user name (basically your password). For the sake of security, your user name won’t be activated until you respond to an email message that will be sent to you as part of the sign-up process. When you receive the email (should be just a matter of minutes, so leave the web page open that alerts you to the incoming email) you’ll need to copy and paste the authorization number into its spot on the website and click “SUBMIT”. You should now be able to add a new listing, edit an existing listing or delete your listing. We use the email address we have on record that’s related to your membership. Email addresses are fluid little buggers and despite our best efforts, we can’t keep up with all the address changes that go on out there. So, if your email address has changed, you may not receive the message with the authorization number. In this case, you should contact Nancy Allen. She’ll be able to help you get your user name activated and update your email address. Some of you don’t have email. If we have no email address on file with your membership, the automatic email is sent to Nancy Allen alerting her to your desire to activate your user name and she will assist you as soon as she can.
4) Some of you already have Placement Service listings on the website, many don’t. You’ll be alerted to an existing listing if you try and add a new listing. You will be able to edit or delete the existing listing. Hopefully, the on-line instructions are simple enough so you have an easy time with your listing.
5) Since it’s so easy now to add, edit and delete, please try and keep your listing as up to date as possible. The Placement Service is only as valuable as the information posted is current.
