2013 Annual Tilth Producers Conference Request for Workshop Proposals

Tilth Producers of Washington is requesting proposals from the field for workshop topics for our annual conference, November 8 – 10, 2013 in Yakima. Timing is everything: it seems like a long way off, but we are now hard at work assembling high quality and diverse workshop offerings.

We are seeking proposals for workshop presentations from knowledgeable presenters. Workshop topics dealing with important farming issues of today in organic and sustainable farming may include but are not limited to:

  • Collective harvest/cooperative marketing
  • Dry-land farming
  • Functional Skills for the Farm: welding, plumbing, electrical, carpentry
  • Grain production
  • Intergenerational transfer of farm land
  • Integrated pest management
  • Keeping varmints off the farm
  • No-till farming
  • Roundtable discussion on sustainable farm relationships/ farming agreements
  • Roundtable on sustainable partnerships for farming the land
  • Solar for the farm
  • Tools, Implements, and Mechanics

Submit your topic idea by February 28, 2013

Submit your topic with a brief description of your proposed presentation (100-300 words) and a short bio that describes your experience and qualifications. Priority will be given to proposals addressing topics of interest to eastern Washington growers. Please email to conference@tilthproducers.org by February 28, 2013.

Workshop Details: Some workshops will include two speakers who presentations complement one another; others will be a facilitated round table. If you know someone doing similar or complementary work or research to your own please submit information on both people to be considered for a workshop to present together. Please note that all workshops are 1½ hours long including time allotted for questions and answers. Visual materials and handouts will add significantly to the presentation.

Compensation: Presenters receive complimentary conference registration plus lunch on the day of their workshop. In addition, you will gain the adulation and admiration from a growing cadre of agricultural producers.
