Blue Heron Farm

Anne Schwartz and Michael Brondi both came to the Skagit Valley in 1975. We started homesteading and building the farm and nursery in the beautiful foothills of the North Cascades in 1979. Mike works full time for the North Cascades National Park where he now directs their Volunteer and Youth Education Program. Anne manages the farm, which is located just outside of Rockport, Washington in the Upper or Eastern Skagit Valley. We grow 1 &1/4 acre of blueberries and raspberries, 5-7 acres of vegetables and several acres of Bamboo. We specialize in hardy bamboo varieties. We sell our nursery stock to retail customers throughout Puget Sound. We sell our produce at Farmer’s Markets, The Skagit Food Coop, the Environmental Learning Center at the Northern Cascade Institute, a local grocer, and a small CSA. Anne and Mike both volunteer for several organizations and have served as volunteer firefighters/EMT’s for the local fire department for over 30 years. Anne has devoted many years to working on food and agricultural policy and helped to champion organic research at WSU.
