Dates: March 31, 2018 through October 31, 2018

We are a horse-powered small-scale vegetable, berry, flower and animal farm. We are located between Seattle and the Olympic mountains on Kitsap Peninsula. We sell at 2 markets, through a CSA, online outlet and farmstand. We are a family farm with 2 fun farm kids. We are interested in education and expanding opportunities for new farmers. We encourage people of color and LGBTQ folks to apply. ASL and Spanish friendly.

We are excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity for those interested in farming sustainably with draft horse power. You will see a working, financially viable veggie/flower/berry direct marketing farm that uses horse and human power. Come out of your internship ready to start your own business. You will participate in everything from field prep to planting to weeding to harvesting and prep to sales. We also do market and event flowers, so flower production and design will be part of the curriculum. Classes on other subjects will be offered through our cooperative intern education program with other area farms and WSU.

We would love to see someone interested in draft horses as well as veggie and flower production. You need to be able to do 40 hours of physical labor every week for 7 months. We would like someone with some farm experience, but related experience is a possibility. You need to work well with others, know how to cook and housekeep for yourself, be willing to work with animals and pay attention to details. You will not be expected to babysit, but you need to like kids as they work with us full time (1 and 4 yrs old). Couples are welcome to apply–one full time, one part time.

This internship will provide the opportunity to gain all the skills necessary to running your own farm. You will get to participate in all aspects! Learn by doing, asking, listening, watching. You will receive WSU continuing education credits through a shared intern education program in Kitsap County. In addition, you have the opportunity to learn about draft horses and flower design. Then, on your time off, enjoy Seattle, the Olympic National Park, the coast…

Please submit a cover letter, resume and 3 references.  Thanks!
