First Light Farm is a small (6 acre) eco-farm in Carnation, WA that works with a small staff of two paid workers, a part-time farm stand person, and a host of volunteers. We are currently looking for a farm staff applicant who has solid sustainable farming experience (permaculture knowledge a plus) and is willing to work side by side with our lead farm person in the weekly farming tasks of bed preparation, planting, propagating, watering, weeding, and harvesting. This person needs to have a positive attitude, take direction well, and be team oriented. This is a 2- or 3-day a week, with the position starting in June (perhaps earlier if needed) and running through October. The applicant must be in good physical health because of the physical demands of bending and lifting, capable of lifting 40 lbs., and able to run small equipment. No housing is provided. Applicant will need to drive to the farm and have their own transportation. We do eat lunch together and cook meals directly from the farm produce. $15/hr. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume and references to [email protected]. Please see our website (https://upickseattle.com) for more farm specific information.
