Ekone Ranch is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Garden Coordinator to join the team this spring! We are a dynamic, hard-working, and light-hearted group, passionate about stewarding the land and teaching sustainable living to children of all ages. Our off-grid ranch sits on 1060 acres of permanently protected forest and meadows near the Columbia River Gorge in south-central Washington State. We run a children’s summer camp, as well as host other programming for children and adults with a focus on connecting to the natural world. A community of 6-8 folks live here year-round, joined by many volunteers, programming staff, and visitors.

The Garden Coordinator will manage and our ¼ acre organic garden, producing food for summer camp and other programming, and integrating the children and guests into some of the garden experience. Our focus is on permaculture principles and ethics, and increasing the cohesiveness and sustainability of food prodcution. Responsibilities include prepping, planting, irrigation, harvesting, and general maintenance. The Garden Coordinator will work with other staff regarding planting choices, harvest times, etc, and will be responsible for directing other volunteers to assist with garden tasks. This is a great opportunity to experience managing the daily operation of an established garden as part of a fun and energetic group. We are looking for someone with great communication skills who is self-directed and passionate about growing and eating great food.

Requirements for this position include: physical stamina, ability to lift at least 40lbs comfortably and at least two seasons of previous experience growing fruits and vegetables. This position will run the length of the growing season; from about the beginning of April through the middle of October.

This position will be about 25 hours per week, and includes room and board, with a possible stipend depending on experience. Couples are great! Unfortunately we are unable to provide for children or pets. (We have plenty of both already! J)
