Harvest Against Hunger Summer Associate (AmeriCorps)

Want to get involved with food rescue efforts? Looking for a short-term summer commitment? The Good Cheer Food Bank (located on beautiful Whidbey Island) supplies locally-grown produce and healthy fresh foods to community members who do not have the economic luxury of making healthy food choices. One of our fresh food goals is to reduce food waste wherever possible. We accomplish this through a combination of education efforts and food preservation. Produce that is too damaged to distribute directly is processed into value-added products like soup, salsa, or jam.

The Harvest Against Hunger Summer Associate is an AmeriCorps position that will support and assist with season extension and food rescue efforts, including our gleaning programs, nutrition education, kitchen processing and preservation. The role will include community outreach, volunteer management, produce distribution, waste reduction, and food rescue projects.
