Description of Work: Five Acre Farm is dedicated to small scale, community based agriculture. Description of Work: Milking 2X/day (machine and hand milking), goat care and feeding, irrigation, pasture monitoring and moving goats in a pasture rotation schedule; milkroom, cheese room,cooler and barn cleanup. Other projects as time permits--cheese marketing, packaging, kid raising, keeping feed records, health records, tatooing, barn construction.
Work Hours: 40 hrs/week, Time off can be arranged.

Description of Work: Interested in learning about producing and marketing livestock based on a grass-fed, pasture-based system? Raise and butcher chickens on farm, manage a flock of 300 layers. Use portable electric fences to manage weeds with goats; rotate cows, work with livestock guardian and herding dogs; learn how to use center pivot, big gun sprinkler, and drip irrigation; manage pasture and riparian areas, use natural predators; grow beautiful greens, herbs and produce. Learn direct marketing skills at farmers markets, talking with local chefs and helping us with our website and blog. Relax at the end of the day with a wonderful glass of eastern washington wine!

Description of Work: This is an opportunity for the right individuals to learn all aspects of a small market gardening operation. You will be working directly with the owner/manager in a one-on-one situation, with plenty of chances to ask questions and seek learning opportunities. An apprentice can expect to learn about plant propagation, bed preparation, planting, weed management, irrigation, fertility management, harvesting, and marketing.
Work Hours: An apprentice can expect a 50+ hour work week, with some alternating weekend responsibilities.
Paid Work? Starting $600/mo increasing to $800/mo mid-season
