The GeerCrest Foundation is a non-profit historic farm in the Willamette Valley that provides youth education in organic/sustainable practices. The foundation also demonstrates conservation through sustainable technologies and bridge to urban communities. Currently Jim Toler and his wife Erika represent the fifth generation owners of the farm but will be placing it into a perpetual trust within the non-profit corporation. The foundation is seeking to fill two positions-- one is an experienced farm person who can work with dairy goats, sheep and chickens as well as manage pastures; the other is a business management type who can work into the executive directorship. Both people will live on the farm and work very closely with the farm owners and the foundation board of directors to do program development and strategic planning. These people should be thinking of a life commitment.

Experienced organic grower is looking for new opportunity. I have 25 years of experience in organic market gardening and farming of fresh market produce. My farming background includes:
•Production primarily of vegetables and herbs, as well as apples, berries, flowers
•Direct marketing to restaurants, farmers markets, retail stores
•Managed own farm business with partner since 1990 (doing business as Lombrici's in Seattle restaurant trade and now Dunbar Gardens in Skagit Valley)
•Managed small farm for non profit group working on hunger and homeless issues (Martin's Farm in Tacoma)
•Organized organic farm plans
•Use of both hand and mechanized farm tools
•Started as a Tilth apprentice in 1982 (Sunbow Farm in Philomath, OR. and then at Dungeness Organic Produce near Sequim,WA.)
Since my wife has become an accomplished willow basketmaker, our farm is moving away from fresh produce sales to basketry willow (see our website). So for the right opportunity I am willing to put my experience to work for another farm or organization. We own our home and land in Skagit Valley, so I prefer to work nearby; but would consider re-locating for the right offer. Contact me if you would like to discuss a job.
