8th Street Greens IMG_8554is a diverse 6 acre row crop vegetable farm with 2 acres in production, located in the sunshine filled town of Okanogan . We grow thousands of pounds of high quality salad greens each season. Our springs are a blend of hot and cool. The hot arid desert showcases itself in the summer and the falls are sunny, sometimes hot and sometimes crisp and cool. 8th Street Greens celebrates a focus on high quality, clean produce presented reliably in a beautiful manner. We sell at several wholesale accounts and the local Farmers Market. We provide a small CSA and host a weekly pop-up farmstand in the downtown setting. We are not certified organic but have the application on hand. . . hoping my strictly clean growing practices for the past 12 years will allow for easy certification.

For the 2016 season we seek highly motivated persons who are considering a career in the small farm world. I welcome what you may have to teach me and I welcome the opportunity to teach you what you can learn here. Field work, pack out, customer service, small business management are all at hand here. My goal is to find a good match for long-term employment/management/possible lease of my space and business while I phase out of the hands-on farm and farm business work and into other endeavors. I am open to allowing my farm to morph based upon who is a good match for these job opportunities. There is also full time or part time space in the schedule for beginners who just want to try their hand at the farming scene.

*General Field Hand , self-managed based on to-do lists I will help make. Self-motivated, reliable, able to work alone and orchestrate others, in the heat or cold, always with quality and care in mind. Love of good food and care of plants is important. Fertilizing, direct seeding, cover cropping, starts, transplanting, hoeing, weeding, wheel hoeing, remay, occultation, mulching, irrigation, potential for weed eating, mowing and tractor work, trellis work, tomato pruning, harvesting, afternoon work of cleaning and sorting (i.e. garlic, onions, etc.). Potential for other tasks as well.

*Harvest/Pack/Quality Control/Delivery/Farmers Market Sales: Self-motivated, reliable, work in heat or cold, able to work with others and alone, love of good food. Harvest greens two mornings a week, inventory the harvest of berries-squash-brassica-tomatoes-beans-etc. 3 days a week, spend the afternoon in our tidy and clean rinse station: rinsing, sorting, bagging, packing, always with quality and care in mind. CSA co-packer, valid drivers license for delivery rotation, organized, read charts, write nice labels, love your Sharpie. Farmers Market and Pop-up Customer Service/Sales rotating or working with me. Potential for field work as well (weeding, planting, etc.)

The two above co-management jobs mesh like gears and can be done as seen fit by the individuals who take the jobs. A couple or a set of friends could house share and accomplish both jobs.

Our farm is located walking distance to convenience stores and a laundry mat that is next to a local watering hole. Our valley hosts lovely swimming lakes, hiking, skiing and backcountry drives. IMG_7604

I will provide farm housing in an organic orchard that is 2 miles away. All positions paid. Please send resume to [email protected].
