2007-B5 How to Develop a Crop Nutrient Budget Based on Your Soil Analysis Report

How to Develop a Crop Nutrient Budget Based on Your Soil Analysis Report
Muehleisen, Bary

Nutrient management is a critical component of any successful farming operation. One of the most basic practices of a nutrient management program is to send a soil sample to an agriculture testing laboratory for analysis.  That is fairly simple to do; the tricky part is to understand the results you get back from those laboratories and actually use the information to improve the fertility of the soil.  Dave Muehleisen of WSU Small Farms Program and The Evergreen State University, and  Andy Bary of WSU Small Farms Program, will go through how to read the soil test results from the laboratory and use those results to formulate an appropriate fertilizer application by developing a nutrient and nitrogen budget.  They willl also discuss what labs are best for the different types of information you want.  Be sure to bring your latest soil test results with you.
